During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, I used the Four Hands platform to gather artists together in remote collaboration—responding to prompts. See below for more, and check out the cool galleries.
Theory: If two heads are better than one, four hands are better than two.
Experiment: A series of open call provocations, pairings, and prompts facilitated by Alice George.
What? Calling all artists (professional, amateur, budding) to engage in collaborative content creation! Now! COVID-19 in forcing us to be at home and think—so why not make art that connects intentionally with others?
How? I’m starting with a simple prompt—consider it parallel play. See below or here. I hope to post a variety of prompts, and to facilitate flash collabs between willing partners.
Why me? I’ve been gathering writers and artists via workshops and collectives for years. If the fates allow, a two-site exhibition featuring work down by nine Evanston artists will be displayed here in Evanston this May. Those wonderful artists include Alice George, Bonnie Katz, Ann Kogen, Jen Pagnini, Socorro Mucino, Shawn Decker, David Rubman, Jane Alt and Joyce Elias. In the meantime, I want to share my love for what happens when I let someone into my practice.
